Betsy Prueter works in New America's Postsecondary National Policy Institute, which provides professional development to congressional staffers on higher education issues. Prueter recently moved to the Washington, D.C. area from Madison, Wisconsin where she was an Education Specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Betsy managed federal grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service to facilitate academic service-learning and family-school-community partnerships in low-income schools. Prior to her work at the K-12 level, Prueter enjoyed working with college students in various capacities at the University of Wisconsin and through Massachusetts Campus Compact's AmeriCorps*VISTA program.
Prueter earned a B.A. in English Literature and Classical Studies from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and an M.A. in Education Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her master's thesis looked at democratic and civic education in experimental higher education settings.
Prueter is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.
