As the assistant editor of The Daily Beast’s Open Zion blog, Sigal Samuel facilitates a new conversation about Israel, Palestine, and the Middle East. In addition to writing and editing articles for the blog, she works closely with Senior Fellow Peter Beinart, providing research and support for his weekly columns in The Daily Beast.
Previously, Sigal contributed to The Jerusalem Post and The Walrus, among other publications. A recipient of the American Jewish World Service Writers’ Fellowship, she has written on a wide variety of contemporary international development issues.
Sigal holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and Western religions from McGill University. At McGill, she served as the fiction editor of Scrivener Creative Review and the editor-in-chief of Philosophic Fragments. She speaks French, Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic.
