Kate Schuler

As the Managing Editor for NewAmerica.net, Kate Schuler drives the organization's online publishing efforts -- ensuring that New America is both an innovator with its own sites and an active player in the larger online community.

Prior to joining New America, Ms. Schuler reported on health and social policy issues for Congressional Quarterly and was senior producer for world news at The Washington Post's web site. More recently she was a research fellow at the Center for Social Media at American University. Before returning to DC, Ms. Schuler spent several years in Asia, writing and teaching American Culture at Chinese University of Hong Kong through a Yale-China Association fellowship, and went on to work at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government on programs for Chinese military and government leaders. Her writing and video work has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, USA Today, US News and World Report, Current TV, and public television.

Ms. Schuler earned her B.A. at Yale and MFA in documentary film and new media at American University.
