Katherine Zoepf is a research fellow in the National Security Studies Program at the New America Foundation. She is currently working on a book about young women in the contemporary Arab world, which will be published by the Penguin Press. In collaboration with Slate.com's Double X, Zoepf also organizes a series of events and discussions on women¹s issues, Broadly Speaking, which are held in New America's New York City events space. Zoepf lived in Syria and Lebanon from 2004 to 2007 while working as a stringer for The New York Times; she also worked in the Times¹s Baghdad bureau in 2008. Her writings have also appeared in the New York Observer, the Chronicle of Higher Education and the New York Times Magazine, among other publications. She is a graduate of Princeton University and the London School of Economics.
