As the program associate for the Bernard L. Schwartz Fellows Program, Caroline Esser manages the day-to-day operations of the program and collaborates on programming with Director Andrés Martinez. In addition, Caroline conducts research for the book projects of two prominent Schwartz Fellows.
Caroline previously served as the research associate for the Bernard L. Schwartz Fellows Program. In that role, she worked closely with Senior Fellow Peter Beinart on his forthcoming book, The Crisis of Zionism, and did research in support of his weekly columns in The Daily Beast. Prior to this, Caroline interned for the American Strategy Program. Throughout her time at New America, she has been a frequent contributor to The Washington Note blog.
Before she began at the New America Foundation, Caroline interned for the Studies Program at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
She graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2010 and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. At Dartmouth, Caroline majored in English literature and received the B. William Hochman Award for American Literature. She also earned a minor in Spanish and studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
