As the External Relations Director, Faith Smith is responsible for initiating and stewarding the Foundation’s media partnerships that include Slate, Foreign Policy, and Bloomberg Businessweek, while seeking new opportunities for partnership and creative outlets for the policy work of the organization. In this position, she works closely with the Executive Vice President, Policy Program Directors, Fellows, the New America Board and Leadership Council, the events team, and other key external stakeholders and colleagues to produce exciting, informative convenings and partnerships that amplify the work and ideas of the Foundation’s programs and fellows and advance New America's institutional mission.
Ms. Smith curates programming and directs outreach for New America NYC, the foundation’s New York location. She produces dynamic events on policy and culturally relevant topics in Soho each week. She is also the Deputy Director of Future Tense, the partnership between New America, Arizona State University and Slate magazine, which explores emerging technologies and their transformative effects on society and public policy. In this role she directs all facets of the events and outreach.
Previously Ms. Smith was the program manager for the Bernard L. Schwartz Fellows Program where she served as the program’s point person and organizational hub. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in International Development.
