Micah Weinberg is Senior Research Fellow
for the California Program at the New America Foundation. In this capacity, he
works with the national Health Policy Program to inform government officials and
policymakers about New America's proposed reforms to health financing and
delivery systems. His specific focus is on state health policy, building on
prior research and consulting positions in which he worked with legislators and
state executive staffs to develop strategies to control health costs
while improving access and promoting innovation.
Dr. Weinberg has spent his career at the
nexus of applied research, practical politics, and economic development policy.
Since 2001, he has been the President of Weinberg Civic Strategies. His
recommendations have guided the policy and investment decisions of many state,
county and local governments and nonprofit organizations in the areas of
community development and human services. This work built on his role as Vice
President of Wilhelm and Conlon Public Strategies, a firm he started with David
Wilhelm, former Chair of the Democratic National Committee. At Wilhelm and
Conlon, Dr. Weinberg was part of the team that created Adena Ventures, the nation's
first New Market Venture Capital Company. He is also an experienced political
speechwriter, having written public addresses for national political leaders and congressional candidates.
He holds a doctoral degree in Political
Science from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and
graduated with honors from Princeton University with a degree in Politics.
