New America Fellow Releases Book on How Technology Will Shape our Future

Hybrid Reality Explores Robots, Healthcare, Education, and More
Published:   June 12, 2012

New America Senior Research Fellow Parag Khanna and his wife, Ayesha Khanna, provide optimistic and exhaustive research on how technology will shape our future in a book released today.

In Hybrid Reality: Thriving in the Emerging Human-Technology Civilization, the husband-and-wife team explore how the technology reshaping our lives today will affect political, economic, and social patterns in the future. They provide a global tour of how the smartest countries, cities, and companies are harnessing new technologies to gain an edge.
Published by TED Books, Hybrid Reality explains how to best prepare for "The Hybrid Age," where we will need to adapt to a future in which robots are normal social actors in our lives, healthcare becomes a vehicle for physical enhancement, academic pedigree dissolves in a global skills market, and virtual currencies enable tax-free transactions.
"Hybrid Reality is a profoundly optimistic book. For all those who fear the future for their children, Ayesha and Parag Khanna have given you a hundred reasons for hope," says Peter Schwartz, co-founder of Global Business Network and author of The Art of the Long View and Inevitable Surprises.
Parag Khanna, a senior research fellow with New America's American Strategy Program, is a leading geo-strategist and author. His other international best-sellers include How to Run the World: Charting the Course to the Next Renaissance and The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order. He was named one of Esquire's "75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century," and one of 15 individuals featured in WIRED magazine's "Smart List."
