New America Foundation Releases New Data on the Federal Education Budget Project Website

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The New America Foundation's Federal Education Budget Project (FEBP) today announced an expansion and update of its online database of federal funding, student demographic, and student achievement information (www.edbudgetproject.org). FEBP is the only centralized source of school district-level student achievement data available to the public, the media, and education policy makers.

The Federal Education Budget Project announced today that its unique user-friendly database now includes the most recent No Child Left Behind Act student achievement information for every school district in the country. Additionally, the FEBP database has been updated with the latest federal, state, and local school funding information.  
 
Recently updated data include: 

• total state and school district level per-pupil expenditures, updated to 2007;

• state and school district level federal revenue per pupil, updated to 2007;

• state school finance equity as measured by federal standards, updated to 2007;

• state and school district level 4th grade, 8th grade, and high school math and reading achievement from state No Child Left Behind tests, updated to include school years 2006, 2007, and 2008;

• and a new data point made publicly available through FEBP for the first time -- state and school district level federal Medicaid reimbursements for school-based health services for 2006, 2007, and 2008.

The newly released data are a continuation of FEBP's mission to maintain a one-stop source of easily accessible information on federal education funding for the media, policymakers, state and local officials, and the public. In addition to the new and updated data, FEBP provides a wide range of federal funding data by school district, including Title I grants, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act funding, federal school nutrition programs, and economic stimulus funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
