Ray Boshara

Senior Fellow, Asset Building Program; Vice President at Large, New America Foundation

Ray Boshara is Vice President at Large for the New America Foundation, and a Senior Fellow in the Asset Building Program.

Mr. Boshara is an expert on savings and asset ownership policies for low-income persons, and in that capacity he has testified before Congress, published widely, and advised leading policymakers around the world. Until the summer of 2009, he directed the Asset Building program, and also helped launch the Next Social Contract and College Savings Initiatives. Before joining New America, he worked for CFED, the U.S. Congress, the United Nations in Rome, and Ernst & Young. He has written for The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, and the Brookings Institution, and has appeared on CNBC, C-SPAN and radio programs across the nation. His book, The Next Progressive Era, co-authored with New America Schwartz Senior Fellow Phillip Longman, will be published in April 2009.

Mr. Boshara is a graduate of Ohio State University, Yale Divinity School, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
