Benjamin Katcher was a Research Fellow for the American Strategy Program and a contributor to the popular political blog, The Washington Note. He is based in Istanbul, and focuses on issues pertaining to Turkey’s geopolitics, including relations between the United States and Turkey, Turkey’s foreign policy in the Middle East, and the role of emerging powers in regional and global politics.
Previously, he was a Policy Analyst for New America’s American Strategy Program and a Research Associate for the Bernard L. Schwartz Fellows Program. Mr. Katcher has published in World Politics Review, Hurriyet Daily News, and other publications. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Clark University, where he received highest honors in political science for his senior thesis, "Is the War on Terrorism Compatible with Humanitarian Intervention? Lessons From Darfur." He has also studied international affairs and economic history at the London School of Economics.
