Visiting Fellow, Middle East Task Force

The New America Foundation is accepting applications for non-residential fellows in the Middle Eastern and North African research and policy community to participate in their New Voices Program, a new initiative aimed at enabling people from the region to access and engage with policymakers and persons of influence in Washington, DC. The goal of this fellowship program is to reinvigorate policy discourse with new ideas and arguments about conflicts and transitions in the region and U.S. foreign policy. The fellows will have a unique opportunity to create analyses on their areas of expertise and to promote it via our broad networks and media partners. We seek fellows who are rooted in the movements of change. The fellowship will run for 6 weeks, based in Washington, DC. The New America Foundation will cover airfare, transportation in DC, as well as room and board. The fellow will also receive staff support from the Middle East Task Force.

Responsibilities

  • Publish policy pieces covering the fellow’s area of expertise and research interests.
  • Collaborate on policy papers, forums, and media events with New America’s Middle East Task Force.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, some graduate experience is preferable.
  • Record of media commentary and publication is preferred.
  • Superlative writing and communication skills.
  • A professional command of English.
  • From a Middle East/North Africa country of origin and based in the region.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of foreign policy, as well as broad regional trends and politics.
  • Intellectual curiosity, motivation, and a self-starter.
