Filmmaker Norman Kelley, New America Foundation, and Washington Monthly Magazine cordially invite you to the private, debut screening of the new film, “How Washington Really Works: Charlie Peters and the Washington Monthly.”

The thirty minute documentary, commemorating the career and contributions of Charlie Peters, a self-made journalist, writer and public intellectual who has made a significant mark on American politics over the last 50 years, examines the culture and dysfunction of Washington, D.C. and the media in today’s rapid fire reporting universe.

The film also features a long and distinguished list of prominent journalists, authors and lawmakers that Charlie nurtured and influenced throughout the years, including Jonathan Alter, Jennifer Barrett, Taylor Branch, Matthew Cooper, Michelle Cottle, Gregg Easterbrook, James Fallows, Paul Glastris, David Ignatius, Nicholas Lemann, Suzannah Lessard, Joe Nocera, Sen. John D. "Jay" Rockefeller, and Amy Sullivan.

A reception and conversation on the role of the Monthly and media in politics will follow the screening.
