Over the past 20 years, documentary photographer Louie Palu has created photographs that examine the social and political landscape of our time. From 2006-2010, Louie covered the conflict in southern Afghanistan while based in Kandahar, which is considered the heartland of the insurgency. The resulting body of work provides an in-depth and unique frontline view of the conflict in a critically important region of the country that received little media attention until the United States lead the surge in 2010.
Louie’s work has been featured internationally including on the BBC, CBC, NPR, VOA and published in The Sunday Times, TIME, The New Yorker, The New York Times and Paris Match. His work has been exhibited worldwide including at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Southeast Museum of Photography and Fotofest in Houston.
