The Shame of Michigan
A ballot initiative that has qualified for the November ballot in Michigan promised "political reform." But then a graduate student at Wayne State discovered a document on an United Auto Workers web site--it was a Power Point presentation put together by backers of the initiative. The document's sub-title said it all: "Changing the rules of politics in Michigan to help Democrats." A link to the presentation is here.
The initiative had some interesting reforms. But the document shows just how devious -- and partisan -- the redistricting process can be. Democrats are so desperate to control all the next redistricting in Michigan, at the beginning of the new decade, that they planned to use this measure to gain control of the legislature and state supreme court. This disclosure should prompt some soul-searching. Instead, it's likely only to produce a big new contract for some web security firm.

Initiative to Change the Constitution
This is a slap in the face to the taxpayers/voters of the State of Michigan. I believe in the initiative process. However, this changes a provision that does not exist, makes wholesale changes that the signer will not likely know it contains due to the 7000 words it takes to explain it and is motivated buy a group of people more set on political advantage than the good of the people of Michigan.
I will do whatever I can to see that this does not pass.
